Around one third of the students in school study a musical instrument and there are choirs, ensembles and orchestras performing in formal and informal concerts to suit a whole range of abilities and interests, including the Norman Trotman Competition for young instrumentalists from the Borough of Bromley, The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and the National Youth Choir.

The school also has a strong choral tradition: Her Majesty The Queen's Chapel of the Savoy has recruited all the boy-treble choristers for its Choir from St Olave's since about 1954. Further details can be viewed here of our other School Choirs.
The Recorder Consort includes members from Years 7 to 13 who regularly rehearse pieces for nearly the whole range of recorders – garklein, sopranino, descant, treble, tenor and bass.
