Careers Advice Fair – Wednesday 1st May – 2:00 - 6:00 pm
We are putting out a call for parents, friends, and Old Olavians to come and meet students individually at our Careers Advice Fair, which we hope will become an annual fixture in the School calendar following the success of the first event last May.

This event enables St Olave’s students to meet experienced professionals as well as more recent entrants to a variety of careers. Using a format borrowed from speed dating, the event is designed to give as many students as possible the opportunity of personal, one-to-one meetings, and the confidence to ask questions and seek guidance in an informal, friendly environment. Chairs will be arranged around the Great Hall in the same format as for Parents’ Evenings. Students use a web-based app to book 10-minute slots with the professionals they wish to meet; Year 12 students are given priority because they are facing imminent degree-course choices.

Last year’s 33 participants included an architect, an investment banker, a town planner, an accountant, a hydropower engineer, an opera singer, an IT manager, several medical consultants, a civil servant, an actuary, a pharmacist, a journalist and a toxicologist.

If you would like to advise students on your chosen field, and are available for all or part of the afternoon on 1st May, kindly contact the event organizers Laura Covill and Sara Alade at lauracovill2000@gmail.com or 07530 736170.
