All Students in Year 12 attend games on a Wednesday afternoon. They are given options as to which activity they wish to undertake. The vast majority of these are on-site with the exception being hockey, fitness/swimming and voluntary community work (Le Chavetois society). Year 13 students may opt to participate as well, and indeed many do. Activities which students can currently opt for include rugby, netball, football, squash, fives, badminton, basketball, hockey, fitness, swimming, Le Chavetois and table tennis.
Those students who are in inter-school squads will also be expected to attend additional practices and matches. There is much opportunity for senior students to engage in physical activity as well as act as sports leaders and officials in a variety of contexts. The PE department is keen to involve the senior students in developing the range and depth of activities that St. Olave’s can offer in order that all pupils can develop a healthy, active lifestyle. The role of Sport’s Prefect has been developed over recent years affording students real opportunity to help shape the delivery of sporting activities.
