Once again, it has been another extremely successful season for St. Olave’s. All year groups have been able to field strong and committed teams and performances have put us top of the seedings in the National Competition in Shrewsbury next week. One highlight was our latest 7-3 win over Harrow School.
The season’s first tournament win came with the Richard Barber Cup. Prajeeth Sathiyamoorthy, Isaac Jochim and Michael Li joined forces with Old Olavians Howard Wiseman, Tony Barker and David Mew and managed a fine win in the Final against Highgate. St. Olave’s also had success in the Northern Championships. Ishkaar Ujoodia and Isaiah Akpovwa won the Festival, overcoming very strong pairs the whole weekend, including a talented and experienced Ipswich pair in the Final. Prajeeth Sathiyamoorthy and Isaac Jochim won the Adult Plate; a remarkable achievement for their age.
Prajeeth also took part in the Open Men’s Nationals recently, The Kinnaird Cup. In partnership with a Year 10 pupil from Alleyn’s School, Prajeeth won the Pepperpot Trophy, which made them the youngest pair to win this title, and only the second schoolboy pair to have done so. We wish all the teams the best of luck next week at the National Schools’ Championships.
