7 June - Year 8 Cricket Tour

Over half term, the Year 8 Cricket squad travelled to the beautiful city of Bath for a series of fixtures. On the first afternoon, the students played Thornbury CC and scores of 51 (retired) from Saahil Bansal and 22 from Benjamin Dakshy helped us to a total of 143.

An excellent game ensued and after a tight finish, St. Olave’s won by 4 runs. Sunday brought awful weather and we were very grateful  to Cleeve CC for continuing with the fixture.  St. Olave’s scored 144, with contributions from Rutwik Meda, Sanay Pandey (24) and Sam Saji Pynadath (28) as well as a quick-fire 16 from 5 balls by Aditya Anoop. Aditya’s 3 for 5 helped secure a 13 run win. On the last day, the tourists played Trowbridge CC scoring an impressive 250, with Smayan Yambal hitting 53 (retired) and Arjun Javagal (21) batting extremely well. Trowbridge looked in control until Aditya Anoop’s  2 wickets in 2 balls and Daksh Gupta’s tight bowling broke their innings, enabling St. Olave’s to finish the Tour unbeaten.
