13 Nov - Mercury Transit Take 2

Three of our Year 12 Astronomers (Tennyson Cerase, Joseph Barradell and Daniel Pereira) watched the transit of Mercury with the Sun in the background on 11th November using our Solar Telescope and Solar Filter (Joseph provided the tripod!)  Amazingly, by taking a photograph using a mobile phone they were able to identify Mercury, which can just be made out on this image (...the small smudge about two thirds of the way up the sun on the right hand side.) The next transit of this type will be in 2032, so the students were keen not to miss out.
