St. Olave’s A team played Skinners’ School as part of the English Chess Federation National Schools Championship. Some very quick checkmates by Ammar Kisat and Owen Messère saw our team take an early lead and it was not long before the others made easy work of the opposition. A slightly longer fought game by captain, Raunak Rao, finished to give us a perfect 6-0 victory. In other Chess news, last weekend many of our players took part in the KJCA Grand Prix, Round 3. There were commendable performances from Mikayel Suvaryan, and Siddarth Nair in the U14 category, and Anantha Anilkumar excelled to come 1st in the U18 category. St. Olave’s is currently top of the leader board for the secondary schools trophy, putting us well on course for an 8th consecutive win. Well done to all involved.
