St. Olave’s recently played King’s School Canterbury in the regional final of the ECF U19 National Schools Chess Championships. Although far tougher than the previous round, strong performances from all team members allowed for a comfortable 4.5-1.5 victory. This result sees our boys through to the ‘Championship’ stage of the tournament, as winners of the Kent and Surrey region. This feat has not been achieved since 2010 (then, with a significantly more experienced squad) and the team is looking forward to what will be the most challenging fixture of this season so far. Well done to all team members.
