Human Rights Society hosted their second event, a reading of the play “Even If We Lose Our Lives”, in celebration of International Women’s Day. The evening began with an introductory speech on women’s rights by Jeevan Ravindran and an eye-opening talk by Izzy Clark from the charity Women for Women International about the shocking plight of girls in countries including Afghanistan and Nigeria. Finally, Yemi Talabi, Pamela Tickell and Danielle Cuaycong portrayed the roles of three Afghan women attempting to orchestrate change in society by educating, treating and helping vulnerable women who have been trapped in forced marriages or abused. The inspiring evening shed light on incredibly important issues, and all funds raised went to Women for Women International. Well done to all participants.
