On Tuesday the 1st XV competed in the semi-final of the national Natwest Bowl competition against Bolton School for an oportunity to play in the final at Sixways, Worcester. The visitors proved strong opposition with a direct approach to the try-line and the defence of the Olavian team was tested repeatedly. Bolton took the lead through some powerful rucking but the boot of Niall Johal kept Olave's in touch. The fair weather and wide pitch helped the home side and some excellent handing from the backs culminated in a try to Aaron Grandidier-Nkanang. The Olavian performance grew in confidence as the match went on and altohugh Bolton fought valiantly and made life difficult the Olavian team were not to be denied. Tremendous defence from Adlai Chua and tries from Oli Tomkins, Josh Goulbourne, Jon Oxley and Aaron (who scored a highly impressive four tries) secure victory 48-17. The squad now travel to Worcester to play Old Swinford Hospital School on Tuesday 28th March.
