Independent Learning Conference 16th October
On Thursday Year 12 took part in The Independent Learning Conference hosted by the Life Skills Company. This was an opportunity to reflect on the start students have made and the study skills students need to build at both A Level and as the move towards university. The conference involved working on: speed and skim reading, effective note taking, condensing text, time management and presentation skills. The students were actively involved in activities which help improved their skills in each area. On the skim reading section students were given insight into spotting key words and how to pick out the key parts of a text. In the note taking students watched a series of videos where they had to pick out the key learning aspects. In the presentation skills students had to present to one another and had to adapt their individual presentations so that they kept the audience's attention. The conference was enjoyed by all.
