On Wednesday 11th October, three Y13 art students travelled to the Lightbox Gallery in Woking for the ARTiculation competition discovery day. There they were presented with three different pieces of art on display and worked in groups with students from other schools to analyse the pieces, creating short group presentations which they delivered at the end of the day. They also had the opportunity to interview the exhibition’s curators and Chris Ingram, whose collection of art is displayed at the Lightbox, challenging their decision making process.
ARTiculation is a nationwide competition that invites sixth form students to give a short presentation on a work of art, artefact or architecture of their choice. Partner galleries and museums host regional heats across the country prior to the finals at the University of Cambridge. The Roche Court Educational Trust’s initiative is designed to stimulate students’ interest and understanding of art while developing individual thinking, observation, research, language and presentation skills.
Next half term we will be holding in-school heats before sending one student to the regional heats. We look forward to hearing our student’s presentations!
