From 1st to 8th December 2017, Year 9 students of French welcomed their exchange partners from our partner school L´Institution de la Croix Blanche in Bondues near Lille. The weekend was spent in families playing sports, going shopping and enjoying family dinners. During the week, the French went to London, visiting The Tower of London and the Science Museum, eating at Camden Market, witnessing the Changing of the Guards Ceremony, as well as going on a river cruise from the London Eye to Greenwich, where they visited the National Maritime Museum and the Meridian. Our visitors also had a taste of life at St. Olave´s, learning about the history of the school in a presentation given by our Acting Headmaster, followed by an interesting discussion of the differences between the French and the English school systems. They attended lessons, form time and assemblies, as well as rehearsals for the Christmas Concert, and they watched their partners at rugby training. Both English and French enjoyed a breath-taking performance of Thriller at the Lyric Theatre and had dinner in Covent Garden. The week went far too quickly and we are already looking forward to seeing our partners again in May, this time in France.
