Olavians from Years 9 to 11 achieved near record results in this year’s Intermediate Mathematical Challenge with the achievement of an encouraging 122 gold, 101 silver and 78 bronze certificates. All Years performed creditably, but Year 9’s attainment of more gold certificates than their older counterparts was particularly impressive.
Congratulations go to George Guest (11L) and Linus Luu (10M) who achieved best-in-year results by solving all twenty-five challenging problems correctly closely followed by Velian Veliakov (9L) with only one incorrect response. Record numbers have qualified for the follow-on rounds, with twenty students undertaking the prestigious Intermediate Mathematical Olympiad plus over a hundred sitting the Intermediate Kangaroo on Thursday 15th March.
These results are further proof of Olavians’ problem-solving abilities and it is to be hoped they thrive in the challenge of the follow-on rounds.
