Just before Half term four of our swimmers competed for Kent in the County Championships representing Kent. This is a remarkable achievement and our congratulations go to all of the swimmers.
Kent’s team of 24 swimmers (12 boys and 12 girls) included 4 boys from St. Olave’s, each of them swimming individual events for Kent. Felix Haslam (Year 9), swimming Butterfly in the Junior (12/13 years old) age-group (as well as winning a silver medal in the medley relay; Harry Rennolls (Year 10) swimming freestyle, and Michael Jacobs (Year 11) swimming backstroke in the Intermediate (14/15 years old) age-group; and Theo Haslam (Year 12) swimming freestyle and butterfly in the Senior (16/17 years old) age-group, and winning a bronze medal in the squadron relay.
All St. Olave’s swimmers swam very well, achieving personal bests in most of their swims. Michael Jacob’s 3rd place in the 100m backstroke was the highest St. Olave’s placement in the individual races.
Overall Kent were a creditable 11th this year.
