26 March - Much Ado About Nothing

The whole of Year 7 enjoyed a free trip to Shakespeare's Globe, courtesy of Deutsche Bank to see a special production of Much Ado About Nothing.  They have enjoyed studying this problematic comedy this term and comparing the all-star cast of the traditional Kenneth Brannagh film, where practically everyone is familiar from the Harry Potter films with the interesting casting choices of the Globe version (Donna Joan, rather than Don John, for instance).  As the director, Michael Oakley says 'This thrilling 90-minute, fully-staged production empowers young people to challenge their own perceptions of gender and relationships as they follow the turbulent romances between Hero and Claudio, and Beatrice and Benedick, and explores what loyalty, chivalry, and true love really mean.'
