On Monday the Year 8 team played at Langley Park in this annual event. In the semi-final we played Langley Park and manged to restrict them to 70 off 16 overs. Varun Srinivan’s and Aashray Suryanarayanan’s two wickets apiece setting us up nicely before Ayush Singh’s 22 and Daniel Kenward’s 15 no secured victory. In the final we were pitted against Hayes School, batting first we scored 118 for 3 courtesy of 30 for both Ayush Singh and Daniel Kenward before retiring, Yuvi Chahar and Ameya Athawale scored a quick fire 22 and 14 respectively. In reply Hayes started well but everyone bowled tightly to restrict their flow of runs. In the crucial latter overs wickets fell with Vaibhav Mehra involved in wickets and run outs; we took 4 wickets in 4 balls to end the match with Kaylan Ruparellia taking two wickets. Special mention also to Franklin Baron who kept wicket exceptionally well on difficult pitches. A fine run of results for this team after their Kent Plate win the week before.
The Year 9 played their competition on Wednesday and had an emphatic win over Ravens Wood in the semi-final. Bravin Vijayakumar, Arun Sanjeevan and Vaibhav Vinod all retired after reaching 30 run and we posted a total of 151 from 16 overs. In reply Ravens Wood accrued 72 runs with Krishna Akella picking up 2 wickets. We then played Langley Park in the final – batting first we scored 88 all out, with Bravin once again retiring on 30 and Aaditya Deshmukh scoring 25. It was always going to be tough to defend this total and despite some excellent bowling Langley Park were deserving victors on the day.
