The mathematics competition year has ended with further notable performances from on a high note with several impressive performances by Olavians in Years 7 and 8.
Junior Mathematical Olympiad
An encouraging sixteen Olavians qualified for this prestigious follow-on round. Virtually all entrants managed to solve at least one of the six demanding and unusual problems. The outstanding results were achieved by Joshua Peek of Year 8 and Ray Keemer of Year 7 who achieved certificates of distinction plus a bronze medal placing then in the top 200 in the country..
Junior Kangaroo Mathematical Challenge
Of the remarkable 69 students from Years 7 and 8 who sat this year’s Kangaroo, an amazing 29 achieved certificates of merit placing them in the top quarter of results. The best-in-year results were achieved by Abhinav Perikala of Year 7 and Ethan Nancekivell-Smith from Year 8.
As ever, these results suggest that the Olavians continue to thrive upon the challenges of problem-solving at the highest levels.
