On Thursday  the Political Economy Society welcomed Mark Williams, chief Asia economist at Capital Economics, for a talk on "Will this be the Chinese century?". The talk considered the impact of emerging economies on the world economy and questioned the determinants and sustainability of their fast paced growth. At the end of the talk students asked interesting questions, discussing the role of soft-power and fair play in China's rise (or perhaps more accurately, China's return) to the top of the global economy.
