7 Nov - Marking the centenary of the end of The Great War

Remembrance_2018_6

Today, at St. Olave’s, we marked the centenary of the end of The Great War. Readings and prayers were led by our School Vice Captains, our Captains lit the peace candle and lay the school wreath at our School Memorial along with Old Olavian Graham Milne. We all stood for the Last Post, the silence and Reveille. Our choir reminded us of the fallen and we remembered the huge loss of life,  the changing of so many lives and the need for all of us to strive toward peace and reconciliation, with their performances of ‘Thou Knowest Lord The Secret of Our Hearts’ and ‘For the Fallen’ We  appreciated the attendance of Mrs Milne, Old Olavian Mr Richard White and Chairman of the Old Olavian Society, Mr Chris Harris. Thank you to the Chaplain, Reverend Julie Bowen, for leading the Service and to Edward Cameron for his trumpet playing of ‘The Last Post’ and ‘Reveille’.  We will remember them.
