Fives Team Update
The Fives team have made a flying start to the new season. Forty or so year 7’s have joined the team and are making great progress. Very many thanks to the fantastic year 10 and 11 coaches who are assisting with their progress every week!
Armand Healey, Ayaan Shetty, Henry Etherington and Luke Whitnall all deserve a special mention for providing an all-Olavian final in the recent Eton Fives Association’s U16’s Individual event held at Highgate.
Senior Captains Aadi and Tanish won an important match for the Olavians in the Adult First Division, defeating a top-ten nationally seeded adult pair from Shrewsbury, 3-0. Also in the Adult Leagues, Oscar, Henry, Luke and Krivi helped to achieve an impressive 2-1 win over the Newbury Club, away on the weekend at the Newbury courts.
School Matches have been played and won against Westminster School, 3-1; and Harrow school, 5.5 - 3.5.
Congratulations to all of those involved in the Fives programme for their commitment to training hard, and helping others in the process. We are proud to say that all members of our Olavian Fives Team organise themselves efficiently… everyone present and on time, and they are as ever, an absolute pleasure to travel with. In a self-regulating sport, they carry themselves brilliantly too on court and continue to hone wonderful diplomatic skills whilst competing with pupils from a wide array of schools and backgrounds.
