Accelerated Reader

Since September 2024, as part of the school’s literacy curriculum the current Year 7 cohort have been using a reading programme called 'Accelerated Reader'.

Accelerated Reader is a computer programme used by schools to encourage and monitor students reading. Students log in to Accelerated Reader take quizzes, view their progress and targets, view information about the quizzes they have taken and locate books.

They can also see ideas for books or articles to read articles, non-fiction books, and award-winning books. These books and articles are primarily based on students' own reading, their Zone of Proximal Development, their interest level, and reading by their peers.

Parents were issued a login to ‘Home Connect’ where can access their child’s progress, reading level (ZPD), overall quiz scores, quizzes passed, and the number of words read.
