History Society
16 Jan 2025
During the month of January, the History Society will be holding a series of lectures about Holocaust memorial. The Holocaust Memorial Lecture Series 2025 is open to all pupils and staff, taking place on Fridays at 1:00 pm in Room 25.
The lectures will cover the origins and events of the Holocaust in addition to looking at the world beyond the Liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau on 27 January 1945. Last week, pupils heard of the origins of Anti-Semitism in Europe to provide the context for the rise in persecution that was seen under the Nazi regime.
The Holocaust is a fundamental event in human history and as such the History Society are seeking to raise further awareness of why Holocaust Memorial is vital to help make a more tolerant world. In coming years, it is hoped that the Lecture Series will continue, allowing for greater exploration of the topic by our pupils.
