Battlefields trip - Year 8

Year 8 students have travelled through Ypres, the Somme in Belgium and Northern France this week, for a thought provoking exploration of the WW1 Battlefields.
The time spent at memorials, cemeteries and the trenches brought the history they have been studying, very much to life; an impactful journey illustrating the brutal reality of the ‘Great War’. THis was also an opportunity for our Students to pay their respects to The Fallen, including two Old Olavians: Lieutenant Edgar Churcher, 32 Squadron, Royal Flying Corps (1907-10) and 2nd Lieutenant James Thomas Jones, 20th London Regiment (Blackheath & Woolwich Rifles) (1912-15).
